New homes for two Regina families by summer

The governments of Saskatchewan and Canada have allocated $130,000 to the construction of two new single-family homes to be built on donated land.

REGINA — Two Regina families will soon have access to new Habitat for Humanity homes.

Funding for the project by the governments of Canada and Saskatchewan totals $130,000.

According to a press release, the Habitat for Humanity projects will make homeownership a reality for two Regina families. The single-family homes are each two storeys and reside on land donated through an anonymous donation.

Residents are anticipated to move into the new homes in summer of 2024. 

Funding provided to each home includes: 

  • $65,000 for each home from the Saskatchewan Priorities component of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) Saskatchewan Bi-Lateral Agreement under the National Housing Strategy (NHS). 
  • $15,000 from the City of Regina-provided to each home upon occupancy.
