REGINA — They were a popular new thing last summer, and the City of Regina is once again rolling out e-scooters. They are provided by two companies, Neuron and Bird.
Users just need the app from one of those companies to start the rental.
The scooters were popular last summer, and are another way to get from here to there in the Queen City. There are a number of rules you need to follow to safely operate one of these scooters.
- One rider at a time. No passengers are allowed.
- Helmets are mandatory.
- Riders must be at least 16 years old.
- E-scooters are allowed to operate on multi-use pathways, bike lanes and on roads that have a speed limit of 50 km/hr or less.
- The maximum speed limit for riding on roadways and bike lanes is 24 km/hr.
- The maximum speed limit for riding on pathways is 15 km/hr.
- Riders should travel in bike lanes where possible.
- E-scooters should follow the city’s parking regulations when parking in residential areas.
- Be considerate of others, especially members of the accessibility community by never leaving e-scooters on a sidewalk, pathway or in a bike lane.
- Shared e-scooters are not allowed on Regina Transit.
This is part of the plan to get Regina to net zero emissions by 2050.
