Two people drown in Sask. in as many days in separate incidents

SASKATCHEWAN – Two people have drowned in the province in as many days, one on Lake Diefenbaker and the other in the 小蓝视频 Saskatchewan River.

On Aug. 5 at about 8:40 p.m., Outlook RCMP received the report of a drowning of a 35-year-old male on Lake Diefenbaker. Officers responded immediately and began search efforts in conjunction with Outlook and Elbow Fire and Rescue.  

The next morning, at approximately 7:15 a.m., the man was located deceased by Outlook Fire and Rescue. His family has been notified. The Saskatchewan Coroners Service also attended the scene and ordered an autopsy. The police’s preliminary investigation determined there was no criminality involved.

On Aug. 6, Saskatoon RCMP responded to the report of a drowning in the 小蓝视频 Saskatchewan River, approximately 20 km south of Saskatoon on Highway 219. A 31-year-old man was recovered from the river and was later declared deceased on scene by EMS. His family has been notified and Victim Services is providing support. The Saskatchewan Coroners Service along with local fire, STARS air ambulance and Saskatoon Police Service’s Air 1 aircraft also responded. The police’s preliminary investigation has determined it was an accidental drowning and there was no criminality involved.
