Saskatoon police plea to the public for tips in Thursday's homicide

A 33-year-old man was shot to death overnight.

SASKATOON – Update Dec. 15, 5.24 p.m.: Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) Major Crime Section say that their preliminary investigation has determined the victim was involved in a confrontation with an individual that led to the victim sustaining a gunshot wound. At this time, it doesn’t appear they were known to each other. Another man was with the victim at the time of the incident but he wasn’t injured.

SPS Major Crimes is asking residents in the area of the 2700 block of 21st Street West to check their home surveillance systems between the hours of 12 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Dec. 14, and contact police with any information.

Original story: Saskatoon police are investigating after a 33-year-old man was shot to death overnight. He is the city’s 11th homicide this year.

At about 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 14, patrol officers responded to an injured person in the back alley of the 2700 block of 21st Street West. The man was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police say they aren’t releasing his name at this time. His family has been notified.

The Major Crime and Forensic Identification Sections, along with the Guns & Gangs Unit, are continuing to investigate.
