RPS quickly find suspect through tracking device in stolen bag

Items recovered by police, suspect to remain in jail.

REGINA – Stealing a gym bag with a tracking device inside is a sure way to get caught.

That’s what Arlen Keenan Bradley McKay, 28, discovered, appearing in Regina Provincial Court today via phone while in custody.

Court heard that the alleged theft occurred on Feb. 23 when police were called to the Regina Sports Performance Centre. The complainant had a gym bag stolen, containing a speaker, keys, clothing, and two Apple Air Tags.

RPS were able to track the stolen gym bag to 13th Avenue and Osler Street where McKay was found holding the bag and arrested for theft under $5,000. All property was recovered.

McKay pleaded guilty to the offence and two other counts of failure to attend court. A joint submission proposed 45 days incarceration, minus six days for remand credit, for a total of 39 further days in jail on all counts, with the Victim Fine Surcharge waived.
