REGINA – A pair of teens are facing charges after a shooting outside a school in the 3300 block of 6th Avenue.
Just after 11 a.m. on April 26, the RPS Community Engagement Unit responded to a report of three females СÀ¶ÊÓƵ the target of the pair, leading to the lock down of two nearby schools.
“Early information stated the victims were standing outside the school when a suspect shot at them from a vehicle,” said RPS in a media release. “One victim was struck but was not physically injured. The school was put in lock down for a brief time and multiple Patrol units and School Resource Officers were dispatched to the location.”
Police found a vehicle matching the description provided from witnesses in the 800 block of Empress Street.
“Police surrounded the residence and made verbal contact with the occupants inside,” said RPS. “Two males were taken into police custody without incident.”
A 17-year-old teen - who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act - was charged with discharging an air gun with intent and two counts of assault with a weapon.
Kieran Gibson, 18, was also charged with two counts of assault with a weapon; and single counts discharging an air gun with intent, and uttering threats.
Both teens made court appearances this morning.
Gibson was ultimately set free on a release order with conditions to attend court, report to a probation officer, reside at a listed residence, not possess firearms, and have no contact with four named individuals. He will next appear on these matters on May 18.
