PRINCE ALBERT – The only person charged with 23-year-old Drexlyr Randall Whitehead’s murder has been released from custody following a preliminary hearing.
The hearing, to determine if there was enough evidence for 31-year-old Kyle A. Crain of Muskoday First Nation to stand trial, was held March 27 – 31 in Prince Albert Provincial Court. The judge ruled there wasn't enough evidence for him to stand trial and Crain was discharged.
Crain was arrested in July 2022 and charged with accessory after the fact to murder in Whitehead’s murder.
Whitehead’s body was found in the 1900 block of 14th Street West after Prince Albert police had responded to a weapons complaint at about 2 p.m. on June 20, 2021.
On social media, Whitehead identified himself as a Terror Squad street gang member. The background for his online obituary displays a black and white bandana, the colours of Terror Squad.
A memory posted by Tamara on his memorial page said that Whitehead “had a hard time to believe that there were people” who wanted him to do good.
“I did my best to encourage him to go back to school and get back on the right path like I always do with many of our troubled youth who are involved in the wrong crowds if [sic] people.”
