A special flag was raised May 28 to promote tourism awareness and Tourism Week in Preeceville on May 31 to June 6. Mayor Harris was assisted by Elaine Simpson in raising the flag.

The Sturgis Station House museum was opened to the public on May 20 when an opening day tea was held. Gerald Stecuik provided the musical entertainment for the tea. Sarah Brown was hired as the curator for the season.

The Preeceville and District Heritage Museum officially opened on May 25 with an open house.

Twenty-four members of the Preeceville School 2016 graduation class celebrated the end of their school years on May 20 and marked the beginning of their future.

Family, friends and classmates shared in the celebration of 24 Preeceville School graduates on May 24, when awards and scholarships were presented at the graduation exercises at the Preeceville Skating Arena.

( Editor’s note : Brittany Kashuba was selected by her classmates to give the valedictory address at the Preecevile School gradua-tion exercises on May 21. ) Our class, to say the least, was, and still is, a handful.

Shelby Cook was selected by the Preeceville Graduation class of 2016 as the guest speaker.

You wouldn’t know it from the Saskatchewan Party’s throne speech. Much like his low-key March re-election campaign, Premier Brad Wall’s throne speech downplayed the unpleasantness and accentuated the positives.
