The Rough Rider Snowmobile Club based out of Preeceville has its trail groomer back in operation and members are busy grooming the many trails in the local area.

PREECEVILLE - The snowmobile season has had snowmobilers hitting the snow for a while but the trails were not all officially groomed until the recent snowfall. “The snow was very welcome and with warmer temperatures we expect to see many shedders take to the trails,” stated Corwin Tonn, president of the Rough Rider Snowmobile Club.

The Rough Rider Snowmobile Club is looking for interested individuals who would like to help out and get involved in the club in any way.

The club opened a trail this year that had previously been closed which travels from Ushta to the forest. The club is responsible for the grooming of over 400 km of groomed trails that travel from Preeceville to Lintlaw, northeast of Lintlaw to the ranger’s cabin, north to Endeavour, Usherville and Ushta, up to reserve, back to Preeceville, and to Sturgis and Crystal Lake and back to Preeceville. “The entire trail system takes us approximately three days to completely groom,” said Tonn.

The club is encouraging everyone who uses the trails to stay on the marked trails, ride at their own risk, respect the landowners’ property and the “no trespassing” signs.

The executive members are, Corwin Tonn, president; Jason Feeley, treasurer, and Sandra Johnson, secretary.
