PREECEVILE - The Preeceville Wildlife Federation recently erected a wrought iron moose bench in memory of Orville Bjornstad (1925-2019).
The bench is located by the Preeceville Wildlife Campground shower building where the Lions Walking Trail entrance is located. Preeceville Wildlife members Norman Johnson and Eugene Panasiewich oversaw the installation of the bench.
The Preeceville Wildlife Federation and Orville’s daughter Judy Bjornstad would like to thank everyone who gave memorial donations in memory of Orville and Frank Babiarz with B&B Construction for donating the cement pad to set the bench on.
Orville was a dedicated Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation member and was involved in many of the activities and positions both locally and provincially. Orville became one of the original volunteer firearm safety instructors in 1960 when safety minded hunting was urged in Saskatchewan.
Orville received the 2003 Gordon Lund Memorial Conservation Award for contributing the most towards the conservation of Saskatchewan’s renewable natural resources. He loved the great outdoors and all the critters that made the outdoors their home. Orville always used to say, “If we are going to save habitat for the birds and animals, we have to get the kids into hunting and fishing.”
