OUTLOOK - Lyall Campbell, well-known Outlook citizen, had his countless acts of kindness duly recognized on Wednesday, March 19, when he was presented with the esteemed King Charles III Coronation Medal in recognition of his wide-ranging and noteworthy community service.
Nominated by his colleagues in Branch 262 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Lyall received a congratulatory letter from Carol Pederson, Saskatchewan President of the Royal Canadian Legion, acknowledging why he was selected as a worthy recipient.
At a 小蓝视频 in the Legion Hall, attended by his colleagues and friends, Lyall received the medal from Branch 262 President Justin Turton. The King Charles III Coronation Medal recognizes significant contributions, whether in public service, arts, education, science or other areas that have advanced Canadian society. It is awarded to recipients who have made significant contributions to their community.
The attractive medal, designed by Cathy Bursey-Sabvourin from the Rideau Hall Chancellery of Honours, was manufactured by the Royal Canadian Mint and is struck in nickel-silver.
In presenting the medal, President Turton referred to the citation that accompanied the nomination of Lyall Campbell for the award: “Kind, thoughtful, and generous with his time, Lyall is instinctively helpful and extraordinarily involved in his community. Never seeking recognition, Lyall has contributed significantly as a volunteer to many community organizations, including the Royal Canadian Legion, the Outlook Men’s Choir, Equinox Theatre, the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, Outlook Donors Choice, the Housing Authority, Variety Place and his church.” It was noted that Lyall was named Citizen of the Year in 2012.
The citation concluded with words spoken by King Charles III: ‘Throughout my life, I have been encouraged and inspired by those selfless volunteers who dedicate their time and talents to helping others.’ Lyall Campbell is such a person and an obvious choice for the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
