LOOKING BACK... A Decade Ago

With the return of Dr. Zaheer Kara, Kamsack again had a full complement of three practicing medical doctors. Kara was working at the Mall Medical Clinic with Dr. Frederik de Villiers, while Dr. Murray Davies continued his practice at the Kamsack Medical Clinic.

Val Konkin of Kamsack won the championship flite of the Madge Lake Ladies’ Golf Club tournament.

Meting in Veregin, members of the board of the Doukhobors of Canada CCUB Trust Fund approved grants totalling nearly $7,900 to various Doukhobor groups in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia, including $3,010 to the National Doukhobor Heritage Village in Veregin.

Heath Morin and Sharri Myhre were the two teachers new to the staff of the Fort Livingstone School in Pelly.

With an enrolment of about 160 students, the Keeseekoose Chiefs Education Centre welcomed Merv Tomski, Sonja Tourangeau, Debbie Cuervo and Marcy Christianson onto its staff.

New to the staff of Chief Gabriel Cote Education Complex where Jonas Cote began his third year as principal, were Jackie Bellegarde, Corrine Brass and Ed Dunfi eld.

Kamsack artist Brian Marion, who had donated one of his paintings to the Kamsack centennial celebration, presented it to Betty Andrychuk, who had won it in a raffle. All proceeds of the raffle went to the Kamsack swimming pool fund.
