On September 22, 2010, members of the Kamsack RCMP detachment received a report of a silver vehicle that was driving erratically south on Highway #8.The vehicle was posing a severe hazard to other motorists as it was reported to have been driving in the face of oncoming traffic and forcing motorists to pull to the side of the road.
Members from Kamsack detachment located the suspect vehicle and stopped it at the far end of an avenue in Kamsack.The driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and returned to Kamsack detachment.
Investigators determined that the vehicle had been stolen earlier in the day from Yorkton and had been involved in a hit-and-run within that city.
The accused is Alexander William Quewezance, a 41-year-old male from Yorkton. He will be appearing in Yorkton Provincial court this morning and is facing the following Criminal Code charges:Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police, Driving While Disqualified, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Failure to Stop at Scene of an Accident.
Grain elevator fireShortly before 7:00 am on September 26, Sturgis Fire Department, Canora Fire Department, EMS and Sturgis RCMP responded to a privately-owned grain elevator fire in Buchanan, SK. The grain elevator has been totally destroyed.No one was injured and fire services remain on the scene.CN representatives also attended the scene to assess the condition of the rail lines.The fire remains under investigation.Break and enter in Tantallon
Esterhazy RCMP are requesting assistance from the public with the following break and enter which happened at Tantallon, SK.
In the early hours of September 12, 2010,agrocery store inTantallon was broken into. Numerous cartons and packs of cigarettes, lighters, chocolate bars and hygiene products were stolen from inside.
