Girls' minor softball practices begin

Nearly 20 young girls showed up Sunday evening at a females-only softball practice that was held at the Gloria Hayden Centre.

There are 6 km of classic cross country ski trails that have been groomed at Deer Park Municipal golf course by volunteers of the Yorkton Cross Country ski club. Trail fees are $10 /season per individual and $15/season per family.

The Yorkton Atom AA Xerox Terriers successfully defended the Brandon Tournament of Champions Title for the second year running. The tournament's been running for many years, says Chad Korczak, head coach of the Xerox Terriers.

The hours of operation for the Gloria Hayden Centre are as follows. Oct. 3-May 22, Monday-Friday 9-12 noon and 1-10 p.m. Saturday and Sundays, 12 noon-5 p.m. Please call 786-1776 for more information.

For a good two-and-a-half days over the Family Day holiday weekend, the population of the City of Yorkton seems to grow a little bit more.

Outdoor rinks

Outdoor skating rinks in Yorkton have been constructed are ready for use weather permitting. The rinks are located at: the Knights of Columbus Park, Heritage Heights, Silver Heights Park, Weinmaster Park, and Appleton Park.

The Harvest will play the Saskatoon Contacts in the first round of the playoffs but the scheduled hasn't been made up yet.

The Yorkton Harvest are going back to the playoffs and minding the net will likely be 17-year-old veteran Kale Thomson. The team qualified for last year's post season and went up against Prince Albert.
