The Sacred Heart junior football team played their first road game of the season in Melville against the Cobras on Monday. Melville came out on top 24-16.


The Sacred Heart junior football team played their first road game of the season in Melville against the Cobras on Monday. Melville came out on top 24-16. Melville jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first quarter, 12-8 at the half and 18-16 after the third quarter. Sacred Heart's next game comes on Oct. 3 when they travel to Esterhazy to play the Junior Warriors. Sacred Heart's record now is at 1-1.. The team is made up of Gr. 7-8 students from the Christ the Teacher Catholic School Division and Gr. 9 students from Sacred Heart.


The Lady Saints of Sacred Heart soccer will continue their tournament schedule this weekend when they host. SHHS is coming off a wildly successful outing in Moose Jaw over the weekend. They play at home this weekend and coach Jeanne Fetsch said they hope to improve on their transitional game from offence to defence.


The Yorkton Harvest wrap up their home preseason games tonight at the Farrell Agencies Arena. The team is still in search of billet homes for three of their players, said Garth Simms, team president. Simms can be contacted at 783-0789 or 641-6200. The regular season is slated to begin next Thursday evening at the Farrell Agencies Arena when they host the Notre Dame Hounds.


The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League season started up and the hometown Terriers played a home-and-home series with Weyburn. Yorkton is scheduled to host Flin Flon tonight and Estevan on Sunday afternoon, with a game time of 6 p.m.
