Slo-pitch tournament held to raise funds for 2017 school reunion

“It’s good to see that Kamsack’s becoming a young town again,” said a former resident who co-ordinated a slo-pitch fundraising event to raise money for a 10-year reunion.

“It’s good to see that Kamsack’s becoming a young town again,” said a former resident who co-ordinated a slo-pitch fundraising event to raise money for a 10-year reunion.

Six slo-pitch teams were formed for the purpose of participating in the Class of 2007 Slo-Pitch Showdown 2016 held at the Kamsack Sportsground on July 30 and 31.

“We held the event to raise money for our 10-year reunion СƵ held next July,” said former Kamsack resident Bryce Erhardt of Martensville.

Each of the six teams had from nine to 14 players and at least two of which were female, Erhardt explained.

Also during the day, wings and chili cheese dogs were sold from the concession, a beer garden was open, two Blue Jays jerseys were raffled and 50/50 lottery tickets were sold.

Winning the round robin competition with single elimination playoffs was a team called the Outlaws, which took home a prize of $500, while the team called Out of Bounds, took home the second-place prize of $300.

The son of Sterling Erhardt of Kamsack, Bryce said that about a half dozen friends and family members helped with the event.

In addition to hoping to raise funds for the reunion, it was an effort for young people playing sports in the community again, he said.
