The Sacred Heart Saints senior boys' volleyball team competed at the Hepburn Hawks tournament on Oct. 21-22.

The tournament consisted of six teams: Hepburn, Clavet, Sacred Heart, Vonda, Borden and Perdue, said SHHS coach Curtis Moen.

On the Friday (Oct. 21), the team did very well defeating Vonda and Clavet, but came up short against Hepburn, notes Moen.

On Saturday, the team was short-handed only having six players, points out Moen.

"Athletes were spread thin attending either Regional soccer in Saskatoon or football playoffs at Sacred Heart."

The team faced off against Perdue which went to a third set where SHHS lost 9-15. The last round robin game was against Borden, says Moen, adding that they turned out to be a very strong team, and downed the Saints, 14-25 in both sets.

After the round robin play, SHHS placed fourth overall which put them in the semi-playoffs against the first-place team which was Borden. Sacred Heart lost 18-25 and 14-25 and was eliminated.

Moen pointed to the results from Friday as СÀ¶ÊÓƵ a good time to see how well the entire team can play together when they are all there.

"It was nice to see how strong the team was on Friday with most of our roster in attendance. Preston Liebrecht was a strong force in the power position which teams could not block against. On Saturday, the young squad did very well to rally against some strong opponents and showed improvements."
