聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Rick Kinaschuk rink of Benito topped the annual Arran Mixed Open Bonspiel held January 22 to 28.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A total of 16 rinks participated in the bonspiel, said Rick Nahnybida, an organizer.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Curling with Kinaschuk were: Lenore Kinaschuk, third; Pat Lyons, second, and Tom Lyons, lead.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Placing second, third and fourth, respectively, in the first event were: Kade Trofimenkoff of Kamsack, Colin Vanin of Pelly and Lorne Mydynski of Arran.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Glen Maga rink of the Whitebeech area won the second event. He curled with Mark Maga, third; Ed Maga and Rob Vessey who subbed as second, and Perry Farenchon, lead, who had Wally Lozinsky subbing for him.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Placing second, third and fourth, respectively, in the second event were: Kalinowsky Farms of Arran, Rubianne Kluk of Norquay and Benito, and Derek Krochak of Arran.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Topping the third event was Dereck Kruk rink of Arran. Curling with Kruk were: Thomas Keller, third; Joey Makohoniuk, second, and Kirk Lylyk, lead.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Brad Knutson of Norquay placed second in the third event; Norquay Agency placed third, and Jason Lukey of Norquay, fourth.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A banquet, prepared by club volunteers, including Betsy Kruk and Val Kruk, was served to 150 people, including the volunteers, Nahnybida said.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The bonspiel was played on two sheets of natural ice in Arran rink.
鈥淲e had good ice,鈥 he said. The weather co-operated.
The winner of the January 25 draw for the 50/50 lottery was Carter Marchuk of Lenswood, Man., who took home $165, while the winner of the draw made January 28 was Jeanine Lylyk of Arran, who won $350.
