聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Two days of rain greeted the 104 students involved in the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association grass golf provincial championship played at the Madge Lake Golf Resort September 23 and 24.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e had lots of help from volunteers from the community,鈥 said Barb Tetoff, an organizer.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Students had qualified to advance to the provincial championship after having placed well at their regional playoffs, she said. Because the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute was the host, its team of eight golfers was given an automatic bye into the competition.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 When it was all over, the KCI male team placed ninth out of 14 teams with 528 total points, and the KCI female team placed fifth out of six teams with 483 points.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The top three male teams were from Estevan (469 points), Yorkton Regional and Prince Albert Carlton with 490 points each, while the top three female teams were from Esterhazy (388 points), Cutknife (433) and Fort Qu鈥橝ppelle Bert Fox (440).
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 With a total of 70 males competing, the KCI male team individually placed as follows: Zac McGriskin, 28th; Taryn Broda, 49th; Liam Lachambre, 57th and Austin Hilderman, 60th. Regarding the female team, out of 34 competitors, the KCI team members鈥 individual standings are as follows: Shaelyn David, 28th; Sadie McGriskin, 32nd; Shani Bear 33rd, and Allison Placatka, 34th.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The championship鈥檚 top three male golfers were Connor Tate of Kindersley, Tayden Wallin of Humboldt and Jayden Dudas of Esteven, while the top three females were Ray-Lyn Schmidt of Moose Jaw Central, Hannah MacNeil of Shaunavon and Hallie Burke of Rocanville.聽
