Three Norquay rinks and one from Canora were the top four teams at the Club 55 year-end seniors’ bonspiel held in Kamsack March 25 to 27.
A total of 18 rinks participated in the event, from Kamsack, Norquay, Canora, Swan River and Bowsman, Man.
With the most points earned from six wins, the Larry Dahl rink of Norquay captured first place. Curling with Dahl (skip), were: Dwayne Dahl (third), Russel Lasko (second) and Orest Dedio (lead.)
Second place in the Club 55 Bonspiel went to Sharon Naclia (skip) of Norquay. Other members of the team were: Eugene Naclia (third), Iris Nokinsky (second) and Jim Nelson (lead.)
The Bob Lumley rink of Norquay took third place. Curling with Lumley (skip), were Wilf Romanow (third), Cindee Nelson (second) and Jackie Polowich (lead.)
In fourth place was the Ron Hoehn (skip) rink of Canora, with Arnie Makowsky (third), Eleanor Murray (second) and Maxine Stinka (lead.)
Prior to the presentation of the teams’ winnings, Florence Bielecki, president of Club 55 and emcee for the evening, had acknowledged all the out-of-town rinks that participated; Mark Foster, the ice maker; Lloyd Thomas, the drawmaster; Ed Yurkiw, who looked after the 50/50 draw, and the volunteers who operated the bar.
Bielecki also acknowledged the sponsors and the Iron Grill for catering the supper.
Brian Cotton of Swan River invited all the rinks to come and curl in Swan River in the fall, when curling will resume.
