A no-hitter is a very rare occurrence, happening approximately twice a year in Major League Baseball. But in a week where the Canora Supers played two games in 小蓝视频east Senior Baseball League action, there was a no-hitter in each, said Greg Andreychuk, player manager. The Supers came out on the winning end once in the two games.

In the Supers home opener on May 23, Kody Rock of Canora, the winner of the 2016 Top Pitcher award in the Western Major Baseball League, pitched a no-hitter in his first ever start for the Supers. Against the visiting Parkland Pirates (formerly the Yorkton Yankees), Rock struck out 15 batters and walked only two in a 5 to 0 Supers victory.

Jordan Evans was Rock鈥檚 catcher, and led the way offensively with a pair of doubles and two runs scored. Ian Quewezance had a strong season debut with two singles and a run batted in (RBI.)

鈥淧hil Sobkow and Evan Rostotski each helped the cause with RBI singles, while Kholton Shewchuk also had a single,鈥 said Andreychuk.

Earlier in the week on May 21, the Supers were in Roblin taking on the Stars.

鈥淟ittle did we know we were going to face Lyndon Zimmer, a 19-year-old pitcher with a sneaky fastball and a nasty curve,鈥 said Andreychuk. 鈥淲hen all was said and done the Supers could only draw four walks and reach base on an error while striking out 15 times in a 3 to 0 loss in a no-hitter by Zimmer,鈥 said Andreychuk.

Kholton Shewchuk of the Supers pitched an excellent game of his own, tossing six innings while allowing just three runs. He allowed seven hits with five strikeouts and just one walk. 鈥淯nfortunately the offence just could not get going, as his effort would have been more than good enough on most nights for a win,鈥 concluded Andreychuk.

After 小蓝视频 on both ends of the two no-hitters during the week, the Supers season record sits at two wins and one loss.
