鈥淭he Arran bonspiel has been held for approximately 65 years as an annual event,鈥 said Nahnybida, who is president of the Rec Board.
鈥淥ver the years it has usually been a success in showcasing the fun sport of curling. We hold 鈥榳ing nights鈥 every night during the event, and 50/50 draws.鈥
A banquet, prepared by club volunteers, including Betsy Kruk and Val Kruk, was served to around 120 people, including the volunteers, and was held on Friday night, Nahnybida said. The final wind-up was held on Sunday.
The bonspiel was played on two sheets of natural ice in the Arran rink.
鈥淲e had good ice,鈥 he said. 鈥淭he weather co-operated.鈥
The winner of the January 24 draw for the 50/50 lottery was Walter Lozinski, who took home $160. In a twist, the draw on January 27 for $205 was unclaimed.
