The YRHS juniors have slipped to 3-4 following a 34-12 setback over the weekend at Century Field.
The Regina Stampeders came to town for a Saturday afternoon match and improved their overall record to 4-3 as a result.
"It was a tough one," states Lance Stilborn, head coach of YRHS following the game.
"There were a lot of mental errors," he said, which included but were not limited to missed tackles.
"Huge!" he replied when asked if the missed tackles were a direct factor in his team's loss.
He added that the defence usually played solid enough for the first two downs, but would give it all away with huge gains on third down.
According to Stilborn, the offence couldn't get much going in the way of momentum, either.
"We didn't pass the ball well at all."
Riley McGill and Brendon Weber combined for the Yorkton scoring, both running for touchdowns.
Stilborn said the season finale will come down to Regina's Libel Field where they will play the Mounties. He added that everything is in place for the YRHS squad to qualify for a post-season match.
"We plan to make the playoffs right now," he said.
As of press time, YRHS sits in a three-way tie for fourth place along with the Weyburn Raiders and Regina Lakers.
The Mounties and Regina Raiders remain the league's only undefeated teams.
