Each of the eight teams with the Canora Minor Hockey Association had opportunity to play a game during the Canora Minor Hockey Day on January 28.
The Canora Atom Red Cobras met the Langenburg Atom Warriors for a league game and lost 7-2.
The Novice Red team met the Esterhazy White Flyers, a strong team, and lost 19-0.
The coaches continue to be impressed with the teamwork and improvement of the young players, said a parent of a Canora player.
The Novice Black Cobras played the Kamsack Flyers during Canora Minor Hockey Day.聽 The Cobras were victorious with a final score of 14-9.
Cobra goals came from Chase Hembling (six), Linden Roebuck (five), Kayden Harder, Tucker Mydonick and Cooper Kraynick. Assists were by Logan Sznerch, Cooper Kraynick, Tucker Mydonick and Linden Roebuck.
On January 27, the Novice Black Cobras played the Esterhazy White Flyers in Canora.聽 The final score was 15-3 in favour of the Cobras.
Cobra goals came from Tucker Mydonick, Cooper Kraynick, Linden Roebuck (two), Wyatt Wolkowski (three) and Chase Hembling (eight).聽 Assists were by Mydonick (two) and Hembling (two).
The Canora IP Cobras played the Preeceville IP Pats in Canora on Minor Hockey day. Both teams played really well but the Cobras emerged with a 10-8 victory, said a team representative. 鈥淲e are very impressed with how the kids are progressing in their development as hockey players. The coaching staff is very proud of each and every one of our players.鈥
On January 13, it was announced that Drew and Reid Kitchen were named the Canora Minor Hockey Rising Stars for the Atom Black game against the Yorkton Richardson Terriers.
Wade Vangen was named the latest Canora Minor Hockey Rising Star with his older brother Cody on January 27 when the Novice Black Cobras took on the Esterhazy White Flyers.
