聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Canora Minor Hockey novice teams hosted a home tournament to encourage fun and friendly competition for youth hockey players.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Canora Novice Red Cobras and Canora Novice Black Cobras hosted a novice tournament on January 14 at the Canora Civic Centre. Four other teams from Yorkton and Preeceville attended, including the Yorkton Thorsness Terriers, Yorkton Clean Spot Terriers, Yorkton Outta Here Travel Terriers and the Preeceville Pats.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Canora Novice Red Cobras played two games. Its first was against the Yorkton Thorsness Terriers, who won 10-2, and its second was against the Yorkton Clean Spot Terriers, who won 10-1.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Canora Novice Black Cobras won both of its two games. Its first was against the Preeceville Pats and ended with a score of 9-6.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Goals were scored by Chase Hembling (four), Wyatt Wolkowski (three) and Kayden Harder (two). Assists were by Wyatt Wolkowski (three), Cooper Kraynick (two), Logan Sznerch, Katherine Hauber, Kayden Harder and Chase Hembling.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The second game was between Canora Novice Cobras Black and Yorkton Outta Here Travel Terriers, and Canora won 15-5.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Goals were by Cooper Kraynick (three), Chase Hembling (four), Linden Roebuck (four) and Wyatt Wolkowski (four). Assists were by Katherine Hauber, Chase Hembling, Cooper Kraynick (two) and Miah Ruf.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A digger award was given in each game to the player who worked the hardest. Wyatt Wolkowski won for the Preeceville game and goalie Cody Vangen won for the Yorkton game.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Jeff Sznerch, the Canora Novice Black Cobras coach, said coaches were very pleased with the successful tournament.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淜ids played hard on all teams and everyone had fun,鈥 he said.
