聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The first hockey game for the Canora Novice Black team may have resulted in a loss, but players and coaches still left with high hopes for the remainder of the season.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Canora Novice Black team played its first match against the Churchbridge Novice Imperials at the Canora Civic Centre on November 13 losing with a score of 15-1. Coach Jeff Sznerch said he was still proud of the team after the game despite the loss.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淭he score wasn鈥檛 reflective of the effort put forth by our players. We had a short bench for this game, and allowed two of our players to play their first hockey game ever,鈥 Sznerch said of the high points of the match.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The game, according to Sznerch, 鈥済ave us a chance to work out some early season issues and gave our players lots of ice time to get back into game shape for the season ahead.鈥
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Canora Novice Black team鈥檚 members who participated in the game were Katherine Hauber, Chase Hembling, Linden Roebuck, Logan Sznerch, Cooper Kraynick, Cody Vangen, Miah Ruf, Wyatt Wolkowski, Kayden Harder and Tucker Mydonick. Canora鈥檚 lone goal was made by Hembling.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Sznerch coaches the team with Trent Wolkowski and Ryan Hauber, the assistant coaches. Kent Hembling is the team鈥檚 trainer and Cindy Sznerch is the team鈥檚 manager.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Sznerch said the team is looking forward to the season as well as the Canora Novice Black team鈥檚 next game against Kamsack, which was to be held November 19.
