聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The best snow conditions of the winter were experienced by skiers and snowboarders at Duck Mountain Ski Hill on the weekend.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淏efore last week鈥檚 snowfall we had estimated that there was only about eight inches of snow in the bushes, after the snowfall, there were 11 inches of snow in the open in front of the lodge and we were able to make a real fantastic base,鈥� said Craig Brock, manager at the hill.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淭hey were all very excited to play in the powder,鈥� Brock said. 鈥淲e鈥檝e been receiving lots of compliments.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e had knee-deep powder, which is close to mountain skiing conditions.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 After having closed for two weeks because of the melting temperatures and bare patches on the runs, the hill opened on Saturday, following the blizzard that dropped snow on the area on March 7 and 8.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Brock said he opened the hill with the green lift, and then after issues with the red lift were fixed, it too was opened to gain access to all the runs at the hill.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e鈥檙e looking forward to warm weather and will be having an excellent weekend this week,鈥� he said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e taking it one week at a time, but we鈥檒l likely be able to be open on the following week as well.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 If the hill is able to be open this weekend and next, that would make it the latest in the season that it has been open for years.
