On May 25, an appreciative crowd at the Ukrainian Catholic Hall in Canora enjoyed The Comeback King Show, presented by Canora Wheatland Lioness Club.
Cynthia Gazdewich, Lioness president, said 141 tickets were sold to see Daylin James pay tribute to the King, Elvis Presley, and also perform the music of Tom Jones.
According to information in his bio, James has worked in Europe, Japan and all through Canada and the USA, with Las Vegas鈥� Legends in Concert and various other world renowned Tribute Artists productions.
He continues to sell out his production Gospel Music of the King and Bits of Broadway, a tribute to Broadway music.
In 2017, James starred as the lead in New York鈥檚 off Broadway musical Attack of the Elvis Impersonators, concluded the information.
James opened his Canora show with the music of Tom Jones, which was well received by those in attendance. The songs performed included Say You鈥檒l Stay Until Tomorrow, My Way, I鈥檒l Never Fall in Love Again, Delilah and a bluesy version of the popular Beatles鈥� number Yesterday. He included a song of faith, I believe.
He had some light-hearted fun with the audience between songs, including a remark about his glittery outfit.

The Tom Jones performance concluded with two of his biggest hits, It鈥檚 Not Unusual and Green, Green Grass of Home.鈥�
After a brief intermission, James took over the stage with the tribute to Elvis, opening with one of his best-known songs, Blue Suede Shoes. He then revealed, 鈥淚 got a chance to say 鈥淗ello鈥� to Tom Jones backstage. He wants to be just like me.鈥�
He smoothly made the transition into other Elvis standards including One Night With You, Burning Love, Heartbreak Hotel, Hound Dog, Don鈥檛 Be Cruel and All Shook Up.
During a break between songs, he told the crowd about a recent performance just across the border in Manitoba.
鈥淲e鈥檝e been touring all over. We played this huge place called Roblin. Eight people showed up; sold out, baby!鈥�
During the performance of Teddy Bear, he delighted the audience by tossing out actual teddy bears.
Gazdewich said the event was a complete success, and the Lioness Club is very appreciative of the support from the community.
The funds raised from this show were designated to go to the Canora and District Benevolent Fund Association. Its objective is to provide financial assistance to those having trouble meeting medical expenses.
