TOGO - The Togo Figure Skating Club completed another successful skating season on March 27, concluding with a "friends and family" fun skate and lunch served by the Togo Centennial committee members.
There were 17 registered skaters this season, skating on a natural ice surface. The program ran from the end of December until the third week in March. According to former skater, Kathy Andrews, this is the 60th year the Togo Figure Skating Club has been in operation – quite an accomplishment for our little community.
With pandemic restrictions still in place at the start-up of the season, and not lifted until the end of February, the club was unable to complete their annual carnival where they would showcase their progress through the season and share with their family and friends. Plans are already 小蓝视频 made for next year’s carnival.
Coaching for the second year was Kate Erhardt of Togo. She began skating in Togo at the age of three and was happy to meet up with the skaters again this season. Giving back to her community in her Grade 12 high school year was extra special for the club and we wish her much success as she furthers her education in Saskatoon this fall.
Back for a second year was also the Hockey Skills program provided by local Levi Erhardt, also from Togo. Like his sister, Levi began skating in the Togo Figure Skating Club at the age of three – until he was 12 when he pursued his passion for hockey. Levi played hockey with the Melville Millionaires U18 AA team this season and was happy to share his love of the sport. There were 11 skaters enrolled this season – with one session for U11 and one for U16.
The Togo Figure Skating Club would like to thank Sask Lotteries through the RM of Cote grant for their continued support, and Dustin Wilson Photography for the photos.
