Dix elected mayor of Kamsack

Beth Dix has been elected as mayor of Kamsack.

KAMSACK — Kamsack residents have voted for Beth Dix as their next mayor.

Dix received 237 votes in the Nov. 13 election. The other person to run for mayor, Shelley Filipchuk, received 170 votes.

According to a short biography sent to the Kamsack Times, Dix is an education assistant at Victoria School who has lived in Kamsack for most of her life.

"This community deserves a leader who believes in positive change. We need to put a solid plan in place for the future of our town and work together to ensure we don’t lose any more of Kamsack’s assets and services. I am ready to take on these challenges," she wrote.

"It is time to restore trust and accountability in the offices of mayor and council. It is time to do the hard work to restore our town and come together as a community for the benefit of all. I believe it can be done and I am the candidate to get it done."

Elected to the six spot council are:

  • Robyn Tataryn, who got 370 votes
  • Easton Moline, 316
  • incumbent Darren Kitsch, 307
  • Brian Kirkpatrick, 292
  • Karen Tourangeau, 280
  • Onastasia Eliuk, 264

The remaining candidates were MacKenzie Kroeger, who got 250 votes, and Jan Derwores, who got 113.
