KAMSACK - Earlier this fall, a new children’s playground was erected in the Jubilee subdivision of Madge Lake at Duck Mountain Provincial Park (DMPP). For many years, the field the playground was constructed on had been described as “a swamp.”
DMPP Park Manager, Greg Podovinnikoff, made the suggestion that the area be filled in and transformed into a play structure for local and visiting families to enjoy. Thanks to a collaborative effort from the provincial park, the Friends of Madge Lake charitable organization, and the Nykolaishen Family Foundation, that vision has now come to fruition.
During the official opening, Chris Nykolaishen was in attendance to represent the Nykolaishen Family Foundation. According to Friends of Madge Lake board member, Nancy Welykholowa, the playground was finished in early September and has been well used by the local children so far. Welykholowa added that a volleyball court is still adjacent to the play structure for the older kids.
