Young players are back on the ice at the Broda Sportsplex Arena

KAMSACK - A total of 83 young athletes have registered for an exciting new 2021-2022 season with the Kamsack Minor Hockey Association.

Under the leadership of this year’s president, Jared Ruf, the executive includes Bart Hunter - Vice President, Laura Reilkoff – Secretary, Catherine Maksymetz – Treasurer, Shanneen Tataryn – Registrar, Logan Hilderman - Referee in Chief, Cara Shabatoski- Web Master, Chris Leis- Fundraising, Zach Nahnybida - Equipment Manager, and Jenna Nahnybida - Member at Large.

The ice at Broda Sportsplex is now primed and ready for the young players to lace up and expend some of their long pent up energy during practices each Tuesday and Thursday evening. Over the course of the season, once a month, the players will focus on specialized instruction in power skating with the Edge 2 Edge Program, hosted by Advanced Hockey Canada Skills Coach Casey O'Brien. Edge 2 Edge has been offering a variety of hockey development programs for all ages in East Central Saskatchewan area since 2012.

U13 (Pee Wee)

Games for the U13 (Pee Wee) Team were to get underway in early November. This year’s U13 Team will be led by Coach Jeff Marfleet and Manager Lisa Kosokowsky. The first home tournament date is slated for January 29. During the tournament, stands will be open to anyone from the public who wants to come out and cheer, but masks must be worn at all times inside the building.

U11 (Atom)

The U11 (Atom) Team will see Coach Deven Shabatoski and Manager Shanneen Tataryn lead the season. A home tournament date is set for February 5 – a great time to come out to the Broda Sportsplex and enjoy sipping on a hot chocolate while cheering on Kamsack’s talented youth in one of Canada’s most beloved sports.

U9 (formally known as Novice)

Coach Deven Shabatoski will also be taking on the job of coaching the U9 Team:1, along with Manager Laura Reilkoff. The U9 Team:2 will be helmed by Coach Chris Leis and Manager Robyn Tataryn. A home tournament date has yet to be scheduled.

U7 (formally known as I.P. – Initiation Program)

The Kamsack Minor Hockey Association has always relied on the commitment of hard-working individuals who make personal sacrifices to run annual programs for local youth. If you are not a parent, but would like to support local kids in sports, there is the option of taking your sweetheart on a date to cheer for the home team during games or simply checking out their current raffle fundraiser.
