KAMSACK - As of February 1st 2022, Handi Bus rates in Kamsack will be going up. The total cost for a round trip is now $10, a one-way is $7, and a group rate is $7 per person. Within each pre-booked trip, two stops are included. However, stopping at more than two destinations is still possible at the rate of $2 per each additional stop.
If assistance is required at pickup or at the destination, riders must be accompanied by an attendant. The attendant may travel with the rider for free.
Eligibility
Those eligible to use the HandiBus service include anyone residing in or visiting Kamsack and the Kamsack District who are unable to use a taxi or car service because of some disability.
Those not eligible to use the service are persons requiring medical or emergency attention while in transit.
Service
- When booking a trip, clients will be asked to provide:
- Your name and address
- Your time of pick-up and destination
- Your time of return and place of pick-up
- Any special requirements (i.e. wheelchair, attendant, special assistance, etc…)
- Name of attendant (if needed)
- Service is from accessible building entrance to accessible building entrance. Those using the service must provide proper accessibility ramps for wheelchairs, free of ice, snow, and debris.
- Wheelchair passengers must obtain their own wheelchair seat belts.
- Smoking is not permitted on the Kamsack HandiBus.
- Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance or the regular fair will be charged.
- Service can be refused for valid reasons at the driver’s discretion (i.e. intoxication, abuse of drivers or clients).
Dates and Hours
Kamsack HandiBus service operates four days a week, from Tuesday through Friday. Riders must be ready five minutes before their scheduled pick-up time. The bus will not operate for public use on Monday, Saturday, Sunday, or statutory holidays. Local trips must be booked in advance, while out of town trips required bookings of at least three days in advance. The operating bus hours run between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
