KAMSACK — A ski hill near Kamsack is looking for its patrons for nominations and videos to complete online challenges as it competes in a contest to determine Canada's most invested ski community.
As of Feb. 1, Duck Mountain Ski Area, located an hour north of Yorkton, is the only Saskatchewan ski hill in the top 10 in the contest. It is currently at .
The winning ski hill will receive $100,000, second place $20,000 and third place $10,000.
"This money can go a long way at our little hidden gem of a ski hill," said the Duck Mountain Ski Area on its Facebook page.
In its first phase, going from Jan. 8 to Feb. 4, ski hill patrons are asked to hills and post videos on Instagram completing . They include depicting:
- Suiting up for a race,
- Doing a fun winter game at the ski hill,
- Performing a dance.
Videos must be public and have the hashtag #MackenzieTopPeak2024. Supporters of Duck Mountain should also add #duckmountainskiarea.
The top 10 ski hills will be announced on CBC on Feb. 5. Then from Feb. 11 to March 3, people from across the nation will vote in an online poll to determine the top three. A set of judges will then choose the winners, which will be announced on CBC March 9.
