Yorkton rink prevails at Canora Town & Country Bonspiel

The Yorkton rink skipped by Cayne Worobetz defeated the Bryan Kolodziejski foursome of Canora to win the A Event.

CANORA - Even though six of the seven rinks entered were from the local area, a Yorkton foursome stole the show and won the A Event of the Canora Town & Country Bonspiel.

Held from Feb. 20-22, the teams curled in a skins format and were split into two groups for round robin play.

In the playoffs, the two first-place teams played for the A Event championship, second place played for the B Event, and third for the C Event.

The Yorkton rink skipped by Cayne Worobetz, also including Jessy Wilgosh (third), Austyn Worobetz (second) and Colton Williamson (lead), defeated the Bryan Kolodziejski foursome of Canora to win the A Event.

In the B Event, the winning team from Canora was skipped by Don Probe. Other team members were: Robert Waselenko (third), Brian Herriges (second) and Maxine Stinka (lead). Bob Kolodziejski skipped the runner-up rink, also from Canora.

The C Event champion was the Len Bazarski rink, with players from Buchanan and Canora. Joining Bazarski (skip) were: Brendon Halchyshak (third), Kris Currie (second) and Lionel Dutchak (lead). Bazarski and his teammates defeated the Vern Schick foursome of Good Spirit in the C final.

The other team competing in the Town & Country Bonspiel was the Darcy Zielinski rink of Canora.

The next bonspiel on the schedule at Canora’s Sylvia Fedoruk Centre is the Canora Men’s Bonspiel coming up on March 6-9.
