Canora/Sturgis RCMP activity report

After a recent dump of snow, police were called when a dispute over snow removal turned physical between two Canora neighbours.

Police dealt with numerouos disputes recently, some of which turned physical.

CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 61 calls from November 25 to December 2, some of which included: four traffic accidents, 30 provincial traffic offences, 10 other provincial statutes, four 911 Act incidents, one theft, two assaults, two mischiefs and eight other incidents.

Family squabble

On November 26, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint of a disturbance outside a business on Main Street in Canora.  Police attended and determined the disturbance was caused by a disagreement between a mother and her teenage son.

Landlord versus tenant

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a landlord vs tenant complaint on November 26 in Sturgis. The tenant reported the landlord had gone into his house without permission and was trying to evict him. Police attended and spoke to both parties. It was agreed upon that the tenant would be given more time to move out.  

Signs stolen

On November 29, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of two municipal magnetic election signs stolen off a vehicle in Buchanan on Saturday, November 27, between 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.   If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Canora RCMP, or you can also report anonymously via Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.

Phone mischief

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a report on November 30 of children on a school bus by Preeceville who called 911 from an unregistered cell phone between 20 to 25 times. Police have identified two youth responsible for the phone calls and will be following up with their parents.

Snow fight

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint that a physical altercation occurred between two neighbours in Canora following a dispute over snow removal on November 30. Police continue to investigate.

Safety check

On November 30, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint that two parents were intoxicated at home with their three-year-old son in Canora. Police conducted a welfare check and determined the child was safe with his grandparents.
