The fourth annual Pizza Farm was planted last week with the help of some 180 students from schools across the local region. The event has students learning about agriculture and its importance and diversity in terms of food production by planting the crops which are part of a pizza, from canola for its oil, wheat for flour, tomatoes and peppers as toppings, as well as beef, pork and dairy for their contribution to the popular fast food. Schools involved locally were from the following communities; Invermay, Canora, St. Mary鈥檚, Saltcoats, Churchbridge and in Yorkton Dr. Brass, St. Paul鈥檚 and Sacred Heart. There are seven other Food Farms across the province which are spin offs of the original pizza farm started here in Yorkton. They are: Swift Current, Moose Jaw, Melfort, Saskatoon, Outlook, Prince Albert, and Kindersley.
