Food drive

The FCC, Farm Credit Canada, Drive Away Hunger is an annual campaign that asks communities to come together to make a difference. St. Michael鈥檚 School students were asked to donate non-perishable food items for the past four years, each year making larger and larger donations! This year was a new school record collecting a whopping 1756 lbs of food. This year the school theme was 鈥楥ompassion鈥, which was demonstrated through acts of kindness and love. Students at the school had already shown many examples of compassion by filling school hallways with large brown paper bags stuffed to the top with food for the hungry. The gift of 1756 meals, where each pound of food represents a meal, will go to the less fortunate within our community of Yorkton. Making this large donation makes the student body of over 400, feel like they are making a difference. As Seth in grade three said, 鈥淚 can鈥檛 even get to the water fountain because I am tripping over food.听 But that means that people won鈥檛 be hungry anymore.鈥 The school will continue to work on putting compassion into action and trying to make a difference.
