An Ag Knowledge Exchange event is coming to Yorkton.
Farm Credit Canada is hosting the event for agriculture producers to learn from experts in the agriculture industry.
FCC Ag Knowledge Exchange events are free educational events, workshops and seminars open to the public to help producers make the most of their opportunities, improve their management skills and get information and insight from leading farm management experts.
The Yorkton event will be held at St, Mary’s Parish Hall, Monday, Jan. 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This event is complimentary for all producers. Participants can register online at www.fcc.ca/agknowledge or by calling 1-888-332-3301.
The day will include a session entitled ‘How to benefit from agricultural cycles and economic trends’. In this session, participants will get insight into big market trends and cycles, current market outlooks, selling strategies and the impact of currency fluctuations. They will also discover how the current economic environment could impact their long-term plans, understand the factors influencing land prices, interest rates and global commodity trends, recognize sell signals in their marketing plan and get ideas for limiting risk and enhancing profitability.
The second session will be ‘How to increase profits without increasing farm size’. Today’s small to moderate-sized farms can be very profitable. Land and quota are big investments, so finding ways to add profitability to an existing production base becomes increasingly important. In this workshop, attendees will explore cost control and market options, strategies for optimizing yield and more. They will understand how cost of production relates to profitability, explore how small improvements can make a big impact on the bottom line, understand the gross income needed to reasonably support a family and discuss the challenges and opportunities for smaller farms.
