Annette Sigstad knows good cooking. As the head chef and matriarch of the family-owned and operated Sigstads Prairie Catering, Annette makes the feel good, comfort foods you grew up with. “I think food should be a reflection of you, my client, and should be able to be tailored to your own tastes,” Annette said.

Annette’s love affair with food took hold at the ripe age of six, when she baked her first chocolate cake from scratch. Decades, and surely many cakes, later Annette and her daughter were asked to cater a function for a local company. From there, Sigstads Prairie Catering blossomed from an impromptu one-off catering gig to a growing family business. Despite her success however, Annette is as humble as she is talented. She owes her budding success to the team that supports her, made up of her husband, her daughter, Robyn, and three other part time employees.

Providing catering needs to any event that calls for provisions, Sigstads caters to your own individual tastes. In addition to the full-fledged menu, filled with comfort foods favourites including tender roast beef and creamy garlic mashed potatoes, Annette highly encourages her clients to customize their menu.

As you may have guessed it, everything Annette serves up is made in house and by hand. No premade, powdered gravies here. Her experience and knack for knowing what flavours pair well together enables Annette to not only perfectly execute “mom’s cooking,” but it also leaves plenty of room for experimentation as well. Annette said “there’s no reason for comfort food to be boring,” and her food is anything but.
