MOOSEJAWTODAY.COM -- Moose Jaw Warriors prospect Dominik Pavlik is enjoying a solid showing with Team Czechia at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton.
The Warriors first-round selection in the 2024 CHL Import Draft has seen his team put together a 3-0 record through the round robin, booking a semifinal date with Sweden.
Pavlik has two points in Czechia’s first three games, including a nifty goal Tuesday night against Germany that saw him pick up the puck at the blueline and break wide around the German defence before cutting across and putting the puck home five-hole.
The goal was the final marker for Czechia in their 7-2 victory and came with 6:02 gone in the third.
Pavlik also drew an assist on Czechia’s first goal in their 4-1 win over Finland on Wednesday, drawing the helper when Tomas Poletin scored at 6:58 of the second period.
Czechia would score four straight goals to take a 4-0 lead midway through the third period and cruise to the win.
Pavlík and Czechia now head into the semifinals where they will face Sweden Friday at 3:30 p.m. Moose Jaw time.
The other semifinal will feature Canada taking on the United States. Team Canada also claimed first place in the other pool with a 3-0 record, finishing the round robin with a hard fought 2-1 win over Sweden on Wednesday.
The gold and bronze medal games go on Saturday at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
