MOOSE JAW - The Moose Jaw Police Service has issued a warning about a new wave of the “STARS Lottery” phone scam impacting local residents.

In this scheme, fraudsters posing as representatives from STARS Air Ambulance contact individuals claiming they’ve won extravagant prizes, ranging from $30,000 to $350,000. To collect their supposed winnings, victims are instructed to send money or gift cards.

Police emphasize that legitimate lotteries never require payment to claim a prize. Victims of this scam are urged to hang up immediately and not provide any personal information, such as Social Insurance Numbers (SIN) or banking details.
