REGINA - The YWCA Regina has announced the Coldest Night of the Year is returning for the 10th time.
The event is aimed at raising awareness and funds for the city's most vulnerable, including women and children who face poverty and homelessness.
All the money raised from the event goes towards My Aunt’s Place and Joan's place. On average, My Aunt’s Place houses over 350 women and children over the course of the year. YWCA Regina mentioned despite the temporary shelter 小蓝视频 able to house a large amount of those most in need, many people are turned away because of a lack of resources and funding.
According to the news release, over 200 communities across the country participate in the event, walking through the bitter cold of winter.
The walk will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Kikaskihtânaw Centre. The event begins at 4 p.m., as participants have the option to either walk on a 2km route or a 5km route.
With the support of the community, the YWCA hopes to raise $75,000 for My Aunt’s Place, which will bring toward those who want to help out others.
