Update: Suspect charged in death of Roman Miller to appear in Regina court

REGINA - Update, Jan. 19, 8:42 p.m.: The suspect who was wanted in the death of Roman Miller will appear in Regina court on Jan. 20.  

Daniel “Juma” Atem, 31, was transported from Winnipeg, Man., to Regina over the weekend and will appear in Regina Provincial Court Jan. 20.

Atem was wanted in relation to the 2023 murder of 32-year-old Roman Miller. He was arrested Jan. 15 in Winnipeg.

Atem was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, following the fatal shooting of Miller on July 29, 2023.

The homicide occurred in the 2100 block of Broad Street in Regina. In early 2024, Atem was added to the “Top 25 Most Wanted” list by the BOLO Program, a national non-profit aimed at bringing attention to wanted criminals.

Atem is charged with: first-degree murder and fail to comply with conditions of release.

Original post, Jan. 16, 9:45 a.m.: A thirty-one-year old suspect wanted in relation to the 2023 murder of 32 year-old Roman Miller is now in custody.

In October, BOLO announced the expansion of the campaign which included a large billboard campaign, as well as a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to his arrest.

Atem is charged with first-degree murder. He will make his first appearance in court in Winnipeg on Jan. 16. Atem will the then be transported to Regina. A court date in Regina is pending.
