City of Regina had opened applications for its 2025 Indigenous Artist in Residence.

REGINA - Applications are now open for Regina's 2025 Indigenous Artist in Residence Program.

The residency will run from June to October 2025, and the deadline for applications is March 24, 2025, at 4 p.m. CST.

It is a part-time residency which will allow a First Nations, Inuit, or Métis Artist "to explore their artistic practice, engage the community through free and accessible programming, and create a work of art for the City’s Civic Art Collection,"according to the city's news release.

The artist who is chosen will also facilitate public engagement activities such as workshops and artist talks. Artists in any medium are encouraged to apply, whether it be 2D and 3D visual arts, Indigenous traditional arts, dance, music, spoken or written word, public art, textiles, new media, and performance.

The theme for 2025 is “Indigenous Futurism,” with artists invited to imagine and create work envisioning Indigenous perspectives of the future.

Last year, multidisciplinary artist Bee Bird from the Montreal Lake Cree Nation was chosen as 2024 Indigenous Artist in Residence, and he has completed his term in the role..

Those interested in becoming the 2025 Indigenous Artist in Residence can find more information at Regina.ca/Artist.
