“After oil's sharp drop over the last couple of weeks— driven by concerns over the impact of U.S. tariffs and OPEC+ restoring production faster than expected— gasoline prices in Canada have posted a notable weekly decline, falling to the lowest since 2021, with most provinces seeing prices fall," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
"While I do expect gas prices to continue trending lower, any abrupt change in the current tariff situation could eventually bring that decline to a halt. For now, the good news is that gas prices typically see their seasonal peak around early to mid-April, so we may have already experienced the worst at the pumps for 2025. As refiners wrap up seasonal maintenance and supply begins to increase— and with the transition to more expensive summer gasoline nearly complete and the pause in the carbon tax— it’s increasingly likely that Canadian gas prices have already peaked for the year."
