REGINA - Just having the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in town for a game is more than enough hype and excitement, but the Saskatchewan Roughriders are taking things up to another level.
When the Riders pour onto the field at Mosaic Stadium Friday, the team will be wearing the new “Obsidian Green” jerseys the team revealed a few weeks ago.
The team was going for a clean, fierce look, with a green so dark, it’s almost black.
The re-worked logo with the wheat sheaf on the helmet is the cherry on the cake for new look.
When it was revealed, the Riders Director of Retail, Mark Habicht described the color as “Rider Green dialed up to 11”
“The key was to get the green as close to black as we could without it turning black, and I think we accomplished that.”
The jerseys and related gear like hats and shirt have been hot sellers, and the team has been trying to keep up with demand. We have been told there are even more products related to the “Obsidian Green” look than there were when the team launched the alternate jerseys.
will have “Countdown to Kick Off” on the air at 4:30 p.m., with kick off coming a little later than usual at 7:30 p.m.
