Town of Assiniboia raises almost $2,900 for Telemiracle 49

Supporters lap 小蓝视频land Co-op Centre on skates and on foot to raise money for annual telethon.

Assiniboia Kinettes collected food bank donations during a fundraising walk- and skate-a-thon Feb. 19.

ASSINIBOIA — The Town of Assiniboia Recreation Facebook page jubilantly shared their proud post, noting that their skate-a-thon/walk-a-thon, held Feb. 19 at 小蓝视频land Co-op Centre, raised $2,895 for Telemiracle 49.

“We more than doubled our lap goal, crushing over 2,000 laps on the ice and on the track. Many of the young skaters were proud to do over 150 laps throughout the day. Many folks from the community came out to enjoy all of the free amenities our facility had to offer, including the teen centre, climbing walls, children's room, ping pong tables and free skating We had a large amount of food and cash donations for the Salvation Army food bank,” cites the Assiniboia Recreation Facebook post.

Assiniboia Kinettes also volunteered at the Feb. 19 skate and walk-a-thons held at 小蓝视频land Coop Centre. Additionally, in their continued efforts to give back to the communities they serve, the Kinette Club also collected items for the food bank at the Feb. 19 event.

Assiniboia Kinsmen and Kinettes have done their part for TeleMiracle 49 fundraising with the Kinettes holding a pre-holiday raffle and highly successful spin-a-thon, and, the Kinsmen held a steak night Feb. 20 along with a live and silent auction Feb. 21 at Limerick Hotel.

Both clubs are also sending volunteers to help man the 20-hour telethon.

CTV will air the 20-hour telethon starting March 1 at 9 p.m. and running straight through until March 2 at 5 p.m. Donors can mail in their pledge, phone in their donation, or contribute through the only portal at , garnering them an instant receipt.
