SWIFT CURRENT – A trial for QAnon supporter 60-year-old Ricky Manz that was set for November in Leader Circuit Court couldn't proceed, so Manz's assault charge was stayed.
Manz was arrested on Oct. 11, 2023, after Leader RCMP received a report on Oct. 7, 2023, of an alleged assault in Richmound. Manz was charged with assault.
Crown prosecutor Greg Lee advised SaskToday that the witness did not attend court on Nov. 21, so a trial on the assault charge couldn't go ahead. As a result, the assault charge was stayed.
On Manz's separate charge of fail to attend court, a trial was held on the same day and the accused was found not guilty.
Manz owns the abandoned school in Richmound where QAnon's self-proclaimed leader Romana Didulo and her supporters have camped out. Richmound, which is about about 445 kilometres west of Regina, has 147 residents.
As reported previously, the village held several protests trying to force the group out of their community. Saskatchewan RCMP brought in a temporary mobile RCMP detachment that was staffed 24/7.
