MOOSEJAWTODAY.COM -- The Notre Dame Hounds haven’t found a lot of success in the early part of the Sask Male AAA Hockey League season, but they turned in an impressive showing against the Moose Jaw WINMAR Warriors on Tuesday night.

Rory Dewar scored the tying goal with 5:03 remaining in regulation and Ryken Arran potted the winner 3:11 into overtime as the Hounds took a 6-5 victory at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

Notre Dame improved to 2-8-0 with the victory and are in 11th place in the 12-team league, while Moose Jaw fell to 5-2-1 and sit in sixth place, one point out of fourth and a potential berth in the Circle K Classic 18U AAA showcase.

It was a fast start for the Hounds, as former Moose Jaw MInor Hockey products Brodyn Pladson and Carter Hudyma scored in the game’s first three minutes for a quick 2-0 lead.

Charlie Nameth got one back two minutes after Hudyma’s goal, but Dewar would score his first of the game with 7:12 to play to make it a 3-1 game after the first.

Goals from Nameth and Gage Nagel sandwiched a mid-second-period marker from Chance Regush as the Warriors went into the final frame down by a goal.

There, Nagel would finish off his second hat trick of the season with a pair of goals midway through the period, with the game-tying marker coming with 8:10 to play.

That set the stage for Dewar’s tying goal, which came on Notre Dame’s fourth power play of the game, before Arran finished things off in OT.

Dewar finished with three points on the night, while Brennan Brown picked up four assists and Nagel capped his night with four points.

Steven Wawryk started in goal for Notre Dame and had 30 saves, while Kaleb Page stopped 15 shots in 28:37 for Moose Jaw before giving way to Luke McKechnie, who had nine saves the rest of the way.

The WINMAR Warriors are back in action this weekend when they travel to Tisdale for back-to-back game Saturday and Sunday, while Notre Dame hosts the Yorkton Maulers on Saturday.
